Magazine Analysis Cover 2

The magazine cover that I am going to analyse is called 'NME'. NME is one of the most popular music magazines around and attracts people who like indie music. There are many features on the magazine cover that can be discussed, these include the layout, layering and colour scheme on the page.

NME have cramed the image and other features onto the magazine cover. NME have done this on purpose as it symbolises that the magazine is jam packed of all the latest music and gossip. The image of the band on the magazine has been made on purpose to look like they have cramned them all in to fit on the cover.

The colour scheme on the cover is mostly red and white, with the odd bit of other colours, such as grey. All of NME's magazines have the colour scheme of red and yellow. The word 'AUTOMATIC' is the first you see when you look at the cover, and this is because NME have used a dull image in the background and have put a bright colour on top; yellow with a red outline. The use of the colour yellow on the cover is good because it stands out, its almost as if yellow stands for the most important sections on the magazine with the colour red complimenting it.

NME have also used layering in an effective way. A way they have shown this is by placing their mathead, which acts as a logo behing the image. By doing this NME are showing that their magazine is popular and people know what it is called. Its almost as if the colour scheme advertises the magazine and makes it appealing.

Overall NME have made their magazine cover very appealing to their target audience. The colour scheme that they have used makes it very succesful as it acts as if it is a logo because people recognise NME when they see the colours yellow and red.
