Magazine Cover Mock Up 1

Above is image which shows my first mock up of my music magazine cover. I have used my chosen layout whilst inserting a picture of the band known as the arctic monkeys onto it to see the effect. I believe that this cover has positives, yet it also has negatives. One big negative is that it looks empty and at first this may not seem such a problem but, all of the music magazines that I have looked at in the past such as 'NME' are crammed packed of pictures and text; hence why the cover above does not feel like a music magazine and so I feel that this is a real let down by the cover. However I also think that there are massive positives to take from this cover as well. One effect is how I have put the cover in black and white. The effect of this is that it makes the cover look very vintage meaning that it would be very appealing to my target audience. Another good effect is the use of my slogan and how it just sits underneath my masthead perfectly. The effect of this is that it blends into my masthead meaning that the reader will read them together. I will be looking to improving my cover in future mock ups whilst also taking my positives from this this cover with me.
